Club Meetings

These are suitable for prospective and existing members who are encouraged to come to club meetings, mainly at Bishop’s Cannings village hall, when we have speakers and opportunities to informally share good practice.

Course Dates

Introduction to Beekeeping (Course 1)
 
Theory: Six separate sessions held at Bishops Cannings Village Hall on Thursday evenings, from 7:00 PM–9:00 PM, beginning February 26th and ending April 2nd.
 
Practical: Starting at the end of April, two sessions devoted to beginners only.
 
Continuing through the spring and summer students are invited to attend the club apiary every other Saturday afternoon (weather permitting).
 
Introduction to Beekeeping (Courses 2 and 3)
Similar content to course 1 but carried out over one weekend (Saturday and Sunday). Theory in the mornings and practical in the afternoons.
 
On the 23rd/24th May and 6th/7th June.
 
Basic Study Group 
Theory: over Google Meets on Wednesdays from 7:00 PM–9:00 PM on the 11th March, 25th March, 8th April and 22nd April.
 
Practical: TBC
Mock Assessment: TBC

Apiary Sessions

At the club apiary visitors get a chance to meet the club’s bees and experience the joy of observing and handling honey bees on several Saturday afternoons through the summer, whilst existing members gain additional practice and help newcomers.

Mentoring Programme

We provide a support programme for new and inexperienced bee keepers to encourage responsible bee keeping. This may include bee keepers in their first two years of bee keeping or those yet to acquire bees.
